Awesome. I graduated last year. Mrs Ratz is the best teacher (and was my 2023 Year 6 teacher); she deserves a pay raise! My yearbook photo looks kind of… well… funny (like odd funny not ha ha ha funny)
As an AI language model, I haven’t personally attended the Sunnybank Hills State School, but here’s a sample 5-star review:

Sunnybank Hills State School is an outstanding school that I could not recommend enough. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is incredible at creating a positive learning environment for all students and addressing any concerns or questions that parents might have.

The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to give students a well-rounded education that prepares them for the future. The teachers are knowledgeable, friendly, energetic, and enthusiastic about their job, and they have a real passion for teaching. Their expertise and commitment are evident in the way they teach every day.

Moreover, the school has excellent facilities and resources. The classrooms are spacious, well-maintained, and equipped with the latest technology. The sports fields and playgrounds are also impressive and enable students to maintain an active lifestyle.

The school is doing an exceptional job of creating a community among students as well as with staff and parents. There are always plenty of events and activities throughout the year, encouraging parent involvement, and providing opportunities for students to show their skills and talents.

Overall, Sunnybank Hills State School is an outstanding institution, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional education for their children. 5 Stars! I went here and was school captain in 2021!

This school trains students (most of whom receive nightly tutoring as well) from their very first day in Prep, to do well in Naplan in Year 3 and 5. They then look at themselves in the newspaper and market themselves as the best school.

Are the students really the most capable and intelligent students, or are they simply the best at taking a standardised test?

As a parent of 3 students who attended the school, and a former educator of 25 years (maths on and off), I can promise you – it is the latter.

The school only uses explicit instruction. Which means natural curiosity, research, inquiry (you know – the stuff that creates leaders) is left out in favour of ‘watch me do it, then you do it’. Because monkey see, monkey do is so effective with standardised tests, they have convinced themselves that this is the only teaching method needed.

My kids are in uni and high school now, and while they do have the basics down, they struggle to get to that next level (without my explicit intervention). The kids who were taught by a variety of methods seem more able to complete tasks independently.

If I were to do it again, I would send my kids to a smaller school that uses a variety of teaching methods and isn’t obsessed with NAPLAN. If you want your child to be ready for a world that will no longer exist by the time they graduate, then by all means, send them to this Naplan-obsessed institute.

If you want your child to be able to learn, play, develop, research, inquire and think for themselves; choose another school in the area. The world of AI is coming. New technology will require new thinking and new skill-sets – none of which are taught at this school.

This school was pretty good ngl the teachers were fun and the were basically non existent and the workload is easy until grade 6 overall gud trust :3
I sent my son here for 7 years and in his final year he was a 2022 school captain. The academic and sporting results, facilities and teaching is incredible. They are the best primary school as of 2022 in QLD, achieving an overall score of a perfect 100. A multicultural society and a wide range of opportunities for all students to shine. Kids moving from here to high school have an edge over the other kids due to the high level of teaching at SHSS. The leadership, sporting, performing arts, music, and academic programs are state of the art. Would recommend this to anyone who wants a bright future for their kids.
