From first second I feel that I visited special school . All teacher met me with so smiley face and they organize the test for new student more than perfect .they know well what they doing and give my daughter relaxing for the test.I wish all the best for all teacher and administration in SCGSG.
I went to this school until i finished my GCSEs. Not only were the teachers unsupportive they also had a don’t care attitude. Anytime you would miss a lesson they’d ask you to come find them however the only time they would see you is the time in which the “lunch time supervisors” (dinner ladies) would kick you out as you are not allowed in during lunch time. As well as this they pile you with irrelevant homework that would not help in any way. The only good teachers include the business studies teacher and the head of computer science. As well as all this nonsense there was always ridiculous rules set by the deputy head such as not allowing us to type notes in computer science.
As well as the teachers being horrible the student culture was extremely toxic and trashy especially towards the time I left.
I am glad to see the back of this school. Most teachers do the bare minimum when it comes to helping students outside of lessons and only a handful will go out of their way to ensure you really understand something. They spend most of the lesson answering questions from their favourite students whilst telling the rest of us to “cOmE aNd FiNd Me If u HaV aNy QuEsTiOnz” only to be told that they’re too busy or not free. You would probably get more help from teachers at a comprehensive. Teachers set irrelevant homework just so it looks like they’re doing their job when they know how stressed students already are about exams. Don’t be fooled by their excellent exam results as most of the time it is down to the students’ own hard work. As for the 6th form staff, they take any opportunity to shut the door on us (pastoral care, what’s that?). When it comes to UCAS applications, certain teachers will only glance at your personal statement and approve it on the first draft; most people had to find other members of staff or even people outside of school who were far more helpful. Sixth formers are not given any flexibility and are forced to sit in a room and silently study every week even though this method of revision doesn’t work for everyone.
If you’re considering coming here or sending your daughter here, please don’t as it’s already overcrowded but the school is too focused on breaking world records to do anything about it. Also you’d probably get food poisoning.
Had the most miserable time in this school, don’t be fooled by the status of ‘grammar’- the amount of pressure they put on students is ridiculous, teachers do not care and leave it upon the students even if the student is struggling. If you want your child to do well and be happy avoid this school!
Highly recommended, supportive teachers and quality education. Only downside, staff lack training to deal with bullies.
