I have decided to give this school one star and I honestly don’t believe they even deserve that.

It was my nieces birthday today we sent her to school and she had a substitute teacher in her 5th grade class who started to degrade my niece because she didn’t put her name on a paper and started to make fun of her in front of the whole class stating “oh you’re a first grader how old are you do I need to change your diaper too” On what earth do you think that it would be OK to speak to a child like that especially on her birthday to make fun of her in front of a classroom of children when she’s already being picked on. It’s sickening to get a call from my niece crying on her birthday. We have had issues with the principal the teacher now the substitute teacher this is ridiculous and it’s gotten out of hand something needs to change . We have already decided to take my niece out of this school and enroll her in a charter school due to the lack of competence of the teachers and so called professional staff. It’s a contradiction to the school‘s mission statement.

My kids went there a few years ago. I Loved the one principal that they did have, but she had to move back to GA. The principal they replaced her with is a joke. She has the front desk lady screen her calls, so if she don’t feel like the principal needs to talk to you, then you don’t get transferred. If you do get transferred she will not call you back.
When I transferred my kids to a new school, I had to have a meeting BC Swanson shredded my kids school documents, and not one single person in the office could answer the new schools questions. The new school asked to talk to the teachers so they could get a better understanding of where there are at in there grades and they was told no, you have there paper work, and was hung up on. The paper work, the new school had was incomplete?. There new school couldn’t believe that they did that, especially with one child being special needs. Other then that, the teachers here are great, just wish I could say the same about a few others.
Not just the teachers there, but the whole staff genuinely care for these children. I could go on all day saying wonderful things about Swanson Elementary and the people that work there. It saddens me to know that the school is closing at the end of the school year and it has my grandson very upset to not know where he’s going, being separated from his friends he’s in 4th grade so this is a very big deal to him and this is been very hard for him. I’m really sorry the school is closing. I hope all the kids and parents find their new school just as nice like Swanson.
