This school does not care about racial diversity, my daughter had been racially assaulted by many students for being Indian in the past 4 years. The school had failed to intervene and stop the bullying as if they did not care what was happening whatsoever. My daughter had also informed me that a bunch of rowdy teenagers have been involved in illegal shenanigans such as “smoking a joint of marijuana” behind the trees and vaping under the legal age at the back of the school field. It seems that every staff knows about this in TGC, However, do not care enough to reinforce the TGC values, let alone the countries simple laws.
Alright, the reason I give it 2 stars is because I’ve only been here two terms and I haven’t been here long enough to properly rate it a good 0/5. I’m not gonna be mean and say it’s the worst school ever, because it’s not. It’s just a really disappointing school. I had high hopes for this school, and it really disappointed me to see how students are treated by teachers. They get degraded by teachers, their work gets picked on, they are yelled at, aren’t allowed to use the bathroom during the lesson, and aren’t allowed to express themselves. I find it very hypocritical when teachers say “You aren’t allowed to wear jewellry because it’s distracting.” Meanwhile, they’re wearing big dangly hoops with like five bracelets. It’s very annoying to witness teachers having power over their students. They treat the students like they are worthless. I wish I could leave this school, and I cannot wait to leave at the end of the year as I am year 12. I moved schools from Auckland and honestly I thought my old school was bad. This is so much worse.
But go on, just because the principal talks about how amazing the school is, doesn’t mean it’s so amazing. I wouldn’t recommend sending your daughter here, it’s not worth it. Oh, and they refuse to call children by their non-birth names. Like for example, if you are non-binary and prefer being called something different, they refuse to call you that name because it’s “not normal”. So yeah. Good job TGC!
They school wouldn’t let the kids crawl around barking like alphas
This school is terrible! It’s badly managed and teachers are more interested in punishing kids for wearing the incorrect shoes than addressing the toxic school culture of bullying and violence between the students. The girls are not engaged in their education and to be fair the school pretty much only runs 3.5 days a week. It’s a pitiful excuse for an educational institution- honesty if this is reflective of our education facilities in New Zealand its not surprising kids leave school and have no clue.. If I could give this school negative stars I wouldn’t hesitate to do so. Worst school I’ve ever experienced with my children.
This school has repeatedly done nothing about the large group of girls bullying my daughter (appox 20), after this afternoons assault on her I will be removing her from this school. Do not recommend!
