Absolute shambles of communication and organisation. I wouldn’t give one star if I had a choice. I attended a HGV assessment course on 9/5, staff member leading the assessment was half hour late. He said he’d not been told to attend Erdington job centre until too late to get there on time. He called a register and most names weren’t present and some names including mine weren’t called. After completing the assessment he contacted the college and informed all present to attend training on Monday at noon. On arriving at the training course at the correct time and place I find not only is the course leader half an hour late, but again my name is not on the list. On contacting the college I was informed there’s only 16 places available and the attendees were chosen at random and my training was due to start on the 3/6. This course is funded by the tax payer and is very important to some of the attendees, it’s a pity that Telford college seem very blase in their attitude to this .
Just finished my second year, easy to navigate once you get use to it, horrible environment what with eveyone being rude and disrespectful, not to mention some of the teachers are just plain rude. The food is also mank.
I completed a class 2 driving course with Telford college and i must say i was impressed the tutor was natural. Ppl at the office lovely and a genuine concern right uptill the moment i started work. Keep up the good work n God bless u all.
Big shout out for Joe Hodgkiss! I had to redo my English exam as I missed my exam and have had the absolute pleasure of working with Joe who has been so incredibly helpful in helping me prepare for exams. Usually I find teachers to be a bit difficult to listen to out of lack of expression and sometimes understanding on my part, but Joe has been so wonderful and creative in all of their lessons and I feel confident in my abilities as a student in what I’m doing. Regardless of my upcoming results, a massive thank you to you Joe in keeping me calm and level headed.
Went to this college for two years, completing A-Levels & at least once each day I contemplated dropping out of my courses, despite having a passion for one of them for 10 years… not for the course content, but for the lack of organisation, continuity and management found within 7th form.

Over the two years, I had over 15 teachers teach me (many of which were not specialist) for my three courses, no teacher stayed for more than a month (not until later on in the second year), which nurtured a genuine sense of abandonment amongst myself and peers.

Raise a concern? Voice your worries assertively? Very little, if anything at all, will be done about it. There may be a high chance that you’ll be called “dramatic” and “crazy” by management, escalate it to their inline manager, no point. Nothing will be done either, said person may even attempt to deny such gaslighting.. It’s actually shocking looking back now how much gaslighting they have and are getting away with.

My best advice, is if you’re living local and are contemplating doing A-LEVELS at Telford College, DON’T – not until there is some sufficient DECENT change to management.

By going to this college within this current environment and workplace, expect general concerns to be brushed under the carpet; with the risk of gaslighting if you challenge it, indirect comments made from higher up, horror stories about how your friends have been verbally treated and even comments made by your tutors regarding management!!!!

NOT a truly professional environment by any means, steer clear where you can. I would have given anything to have gone to Shrewsbury College instead.

I have however, heard the other courses are alright, so just keep this in mind if you’re after vocational courses & degrees etc. I also have full respect to some of my teachers over the 2 years, some of them were very professional and only wanted to help see the courses through to the end; so I thank you.

I believe this college has room for change, but it starts from the ground up. I heavily suggest starting with the 7th form.

I appreciate that some reviews can be bias, but I advise you read the ‘Indeed reviews’ for employee’s working at Telford College so that you can gain an insight into how the staff themself feel about working at college.
