As a mom choosing a school is hard. Looking for a small school that feels like family-We totally recommend Athenian Academy Clearwater. It has a private school feel with not so many kids. Clean, smells great, Awesome overall staff around. Everyone is so involved in caring for the kids, whether its lunch staff or PE, or the nicest guidance counselor they’re all there to help. Front staff is always so helpful, welcoming, care about the kids and will help with anything quickly. Principal Mrs.Roper and Vice principal Mrs. Masters are phenomenal, so involved, such care for the students, staff and parents. Any questions or issues, it is resolved quickly. The teachers are engaging. Very hands on, helping the kids progress, building leaders, improving their strengths, creating a great environment they can grow in. Great curriculum. We love they are being taught Spanish as well. We’re overjoyed sports are being brought back to involve the kids in after school programs. Very involved resource officer on staff. The preschool is awesome as well, need a VPK- definitely check them out. They get the kids extra ready for kindergarten. Great before /after care program. PTA is great, getting the parents involved and focusing on great ways to raise money for the school. My children have enjoyed going here for the last 3 years. Highly recommend.

They are too obsessed with all the A+ kids that they disregard those who are average and below. Better yet, they dispose of them, as not to tarnish their reputation.
There’s also a couple of students that they always call to report, report, report stirring up trouble instead of dealing with it with the parent or guardian.
I was right there in the office when they called to report to the Child Welfare, my kid is in the same class as that child was. He’s always coming home to report that the teachers are always picking on them and they’re trying very hard to learn. Then the teacher calls that student and other students “Stupid”, “Dumb”, and “Retarded”. Really?
There are no absolute encouragement from any of the teachers! All the good ones had left!

We have been at Athenian for 3 years and love it! We feel like family here! All the staff is always friendly and helpful. The principal and vice principal are very involved, we always see them in every event and you can see all the kids love them. I would highly recommend this school if you are looking to be more than just a number in a huge public school.
