It was the outdoor play time when I visited Children’s Garden looking for a spot for our then 3 year old. The first thing I saw was this little girl happily running behind her teacher like a shadow. This was followed by a few more kids just randomly running for the teachers for some hugs. That’s it. I had a million questions to ask from the teachers but seeing how much kids love these teachers I didn’t have much to ask. Our son has been going there happily since then.

A bit of background. When we moved to Blacksburg, finding a daycare was the main worry we had. My wife and I scouted all the child care facilities in Blacksburg, the next town Christiansburg, and even Radford, which is about 25min drive away. More than the big recreational space or the activities, we were looking for teachers who were friendly, caring and loving with kids. There were some good ones, but Children’s Garden felt more welcoming and friendly to our son than any. We are so happy to have found this place!

This is my daughter’s second year at Children’s Garden, and I really can’t say enough great things about the school’s culture and the competency of the teachers and staff. They really focus on making children love learning and school and helping children feel comfortable trusting and asking for help from adults outside of their family circle. My daughter has really blossomed there. She loves school and her teachers, and I am so happy that she’s had such a positive base. I know she’ll be prepared and ready when she enters kindergarten. Her teachers are open to starting new units based on student interest. She has independent play, group play, and group instruction opportunities. She’s encouraged to explore her interests, and her teachers never cease to teach her things she is interested in learning. Positive and gentle discipline is used, helping her always feel respected and valued. I can’t say enough great things. CG is the best!
