I had an amazing teaching experience for two incredible years with wonderful colleagues and staff and memorable students at The Children’s Schoolhouse Montessori School. This school’s entire approach to children, learning, and parental involvement has formed the basis for my own professional roles as an educator, and I saw first-hand how the welcoming learning environment there also formed the basis for our children’s views of school and themselves as learners. The students learn at their own pace through exploratory play with the individualized support of caring teachers. I was astounded by the progress these students made in a short time at the Children’s Schoolhouse. As a North Carolina Elementary Education teacher, now in our public schools, I wish that more school settings used the learner-centered teaching approach found in the Children’s Schoolhouse Montessori School. This school sends their students on to the next grade extremely well-prepared, ahead of most other kids their age, and with a love of learning that will continue to strengthen their achievement in school and out of the classroom as well.
The Children’s Schoolhouse is a wonderful Montessori pre-school, here in Wilmington, NC. It is a well-established, 30-year-old school, with the most amazing teachers that truly care about each and every child. You can feel their love for them every time you walk in. And unlike so many schools in the area…these teachers are long-standing…they have been doing this for years and years, some for decades! No turnover here! It is such a wonderful feeling to have my child in such a caring, loving, safe and stable environment…where he learns SO much! The Montessori method was not something I knew a lot about when we first enrolled, but have come to realized it is an absolutely wonderful way for children to learn. We are so, so happy with the Schoolhouse and hope it thrives for years and years to come.
