The principle is kind, knows each child and parents’ name, the staff is happy with their job, which signifies his perception of his job as a principle.
The staff ( not just the teachers) are concerned for the emotional and psychological well being of each cold, as well as the education. There is no screaming, cursing, yelling or assumptions that a child will be “bad” based on previous experiences with that child ( I’ve seen all the above in other rcsd schools).
There is a reward system that carried from class to class. Points can only be earned, not deducted so there is no anxiety over ” punishment”, only a desire to succeed and the confidence to try!
This is by far one of the best schools in the district. It also boasts a culture of awareness, due to half its small population being foreign, non English speakers (And not just Spanish speakers)!
The entire district is poorly managed, obvious to me from the low ranking on the charts of NYS’s best schools… but there ARE some skills that take what is given to them and create diamonds. Mr. Piper and his team have done this with the children’s school of Rochester!
