I have nothing but praise for this flight school. The staff and instructors truly care about student progression. Jay (chief CFI) went out of his way to arrange a checkride date on a short notice and was even there the morning of the exam, pulling the plane for me and fueling it up. You don’t see that at other flight schools.
The training courses are setup for fast progression, bootcamp type of deal. All the students are dedicated to getting their certificates/ratings done as quickly and efficiently as possible which creates sort of a camaraderie as we “struggle” through the hurdles of flight training.
I highly recommend The Flying School if you can dedicate 1-2 weeks (depending on the training program) to doing only this, then you will be successful at the end.
Best place in Northern Colorado for training/rental without question. The aircraft are new, well maintained, and regularly upgraded. Both myself and multiple friends have tried the other flight schools at the airport and all settled on The Flying School.

Jay Turnbull has been my instructor and he has been wonderful. He’s one of the most knowledge pilots I’ve ever flown with, every flight he teaches me new and useful things about topics that I feel were barely covered during my primary training (out of town). He’s a Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award recipient, has many years of experience, and knows the aircraft inside and out. If you get a chance to fly with him, you will learn something new, regardless of your aviation background.

Successfully completed their accelerated CFI school. Had a good group size of 7. Consisted of flying once a day, a half day of ground school followed by group study. Good clean training room. They assisted with aircraft, instructor, ground instructors and examiner scheduling. It’s an intense set of days but the processed worked. Depending how long you’ve been away from the knowledge or flying part will greatly impact the amount of work. The more prepared the better, however, it sets you up well for what your practical test will require.
