The experience Compass School has provided us from the beginning is simply amazing. We enrolled our two year old son earlier this year and the teachers really took time to get to know him and kept open communication with me to ensure he transitioned well. This was his first preschool, so he struggled a bit in the beginning with naps, morning drop offs, eating lunch with the group, etc but with time, patience, and creative solutions he made tremendous progress and is such a happy boy in the VA Study classroom.

The school is clean and yet looks like home…lived in and played in. My favorite part is seeing all the wonderful art that the kids do displayed throughout the school. The play area is big and offers variety. There is even a field across the parking area where they take kids to play as well. You get daily reports along with weekly journals on what your child has tackled, along with pictures to see for yourself.

We also enrolled our 7 year old daughter this summer in their camp program – she looked forward to every week which was full of activities and field trips. She made lasting friendships and still visits her summer teachers when dropping off her brother every week.

We are moving this month and unfortunately need to find our son a new preschool home. The biggest takeaway from Compass School is how everyone there makes you feel like family and genuinely care about the well being of your kids – from the director and staff members to all the teachers at this location – we’ve experienced nothing but the best . I highly recommend Compass School!

I have a 6 year old and 3 year old at Compass. Both of my kids have been there since they were 3 months old and have thrived. I looked at many daycare options before deciding on Compass, but there was simply no other choice after my initial visit here. The teachers are really hands on, creative, and compassionate people who have encouraged and prepared my children well for school. My 3 year old has an excellent vocabulary and uses complex sentences when she speaks. When my 6 year entered kindergarten, she had already mastered everything covered in the first quarter. I attribute that to the caliber of the teaching staff at Compass.

Also, I’ve been at the school long enough to develop personal relationships with many of the teachers, and I really feel like they have my children’s best interest at heart. Many of the teachers that taught my 6 year old have also taught my 3 year old. That being said, of course, there is teacher turnover. There is turnover at every daycare you go to; however, I feel that Compass makes an effort to keep you informed of what is going on and tries to minimize the impact to the children.

As for the negative review posted, I have never seen any type of behavior resembling that over the past six years and find it hard to believe based on my experience. The staff have always treated my children with love and respect.

My children had been attending an academy in Sterling VA where we previously lived. We had been at that school for 5 years so when we decided to move to Manassas, the thought of changing schools was scary. A family member recommended Compass School in Manassas and so did a few of my new neighbors. When my family first toured the school I was very impressed with the size of the classrooms, all of the natural light, and all of the art and sensory items that you can see the minute you open the front doors. I also immediately got a very warm and friendly feeling from all of the teachers and administrators. My son is 2 years old and has been attending Compass for a little over a month and we couldn’t be happier. The program is so special and allows for so much creativity and learning in such a natural way. We adore his teachers and love all the feedback we get daily. I know he feels happy and safe all day in his classroom. We have happy and fun drop offs and he waves me out of the classroom because he is just ready to start his day there. We toured several schools and none of them are quite like Compass. Its a very special place!
