A school that does not consider a child’s social relations. The student arrives home at four in the afternoon. Although the school’s level of education has a good improvement rating, it does not qualify as distinguished.
Seventh grade student here, having attended this school my entire life. My overall average has always been an A+, usually a 99 or 100. Honestly, I believe the very idea of sending your children here should be considered an insult to their dignity. Bathrooms are available only during breaks. As we usually have two classes between breaks, they often use the excuse, “You just had a break/break is next class,” knowing full well that is almost always the case. Two exams per day? Seriously? The staff is annoying and useless at best. The exams and textbooks frequently contain false information, mistakes, single-choice questions with multiple valid answers, or questions where every possible answer proves invalid. This school isn’t difficult or academically intensive in the traditional sense; they just give you two exams per day and excessive assignments, along with unreasonable hours that stretch the length of the school day to about 12-13 hours. This leaves you with 1-2 hours to eat, play, or do other things, including sleep! Additionally, the moral education exams here are ridiculous; one mistake in an entire term will earn you a permanent A or below. The weeks of material we study could be explained by a 20-minute YouTube video. Remember, you are paying tens of thousands of dollars for this. This must be a joke. I’ve been given the impression that other schools here are also subpar, but this one proves to be barely any better. Transfer students consistently complain about this institution. Keep in mind, my GPA has never dipped below a perfect 4.0, so don’t think this is coming from a place of academic struggle. This school just encroaches on way too much time, and I honestly have never felt relaxed this entire term. I always have hours of studying or project work to do.
As a concerned parent, I feel compelled to share my experience with The International School of Choueifat – Abu Dhabi, Khalifa City. While it presents itself as an institution of learning, my encounters have revealed a disconcerting array of issues that profoundly impact the educational environment and the well-being of its students (one star is even too generous).
One of the most distressing observations is the preference for students of specific nationalities over others. This bias manifests in various forms, from subtle favoritism in classroom dynamics to more overt disparities in disciplinary actions.
Equally disheartening is the state of cleanliness within the school premises. The facilities often fall short of basic standards. Restrooms, in particular, exhibit a concerning lack of maintenance, with unsanitary conditions and doors bearing inappropriate sketches and disrespectful language.
Furthermore, instances of profanity and inappropriate language among students are distressingly common. The casual use of swearing within the school environment reflects poorly on the institution’s culture and the attitudes among students.
Moreover, I must address the unprofessional conduct exhibited by certain supervisors within the school. Instances of inconsistency in disciplinary measures and a lack of transparency in decision-making, including the refusal to allow parents to view CCTV footage to determine the cause of their children’s injuries, have been observed. Such behavior erodes trust and confidence in the institution’s ability to provide a safe and nurturing environment for students.
This school is disgusting! We have 24 to 26 exams in only one week. We go to sleep so late, worried about exams. There is not one day where we don’t have exams. The teachers love to embarrass us in front of the AQC’s. They always insult us, look through our bags and tablets, and threaten us every single day. No other school, other than Choueifat, gives us this many exams in one week. I am tired and depressed, and I pray every day that this school closes down because everyone in it cries themselves to sleep because of the strict and rude teachers. We are not allowed to drink in classes, and our breaks are so short. The teachers never explain, only give us answers, and we are always so sad because, with all of the exams we have, the AQC’s come in and add up to five more exams, which adds up to 30 exams a week, every single week! When I say never, I mean never send your kids to this school. Please trust me, don’t! Also, the bathroom monitors open the door on us while we are in the bathroom, scream at us if we stay in there for more than one minute, and the cafeteria food is absolutely disgusting. It’s all expired, and many times they would put uncooked meat in their burgers. Their water is 5 dirhams. If I had a chance to sue this school, I would!
It is one of the best schools. My children have been studying there from KG1 onwards. We moved from Choueifat for one year, but we realized that Choueifat is much better in terms of education. Their weekly exam methods and focus on keeping children engaged with books are the best things about it.
A few people feel that it has hard and strict rules and that children have a lot of studying pressure, but in my opinion, it’s a good thing; they are preparing them for future competition.
I’m a sixth-grade student. Most teachers are really rude and won’t even let us go to the bathroom or nurse. If you care about your child’s well-being and don’t want them to be stressed out with the exams we have every day, then I advise you not to choose this school. Sometimes, we aren’t even allowed to have breaks. We have a third break, but sometimes they send us to the exam hall to do a prep list that almost no one has. They just waste time. They give us random exams and make them extra hard for no reason. Next week, I have an English essay exam. Usually, we have to memorize and write, but it’s going to be unseen. They make it hard for no reason. This school has a lot of benefits, but it is not worth destroying your mental health. To summarize, don’t enroll your child in this school if you care about them.
Not a good place to put your kids, very strict. Daily exams for grade 6 and up, too much homework and bullying.
