I graduated in 2010 from the excellerated 9 month certificate program. I had a great time at the school. I only had 3 other people in all of my classes and labs which meant I got a lot of time from the instructors. What I didnt like where all the thugs that attend the school. They make it hard to concentrate in the classroom. In my general classes I was with about 30 other students, nearly 90% never pay attention in class. It made me wonder why they were there. Its not like we were taking a English class or something, it was pretty interesting stuff. I did find it hard to focus in class with all of the other students distractions. I never did get my pro tools certificate….I should have taken advantage of this at the time. However, I sent out about 50 resumes for internships. All of this work yielded me a interview at the biggest studio in North Hollywood. I had 3 interviews and didnt get the dream internship. I ended up getting a internship at a home studio in LA. This was so far from what I wanted but I took it. I ended up spending 90% of my time either cleaning, doing yard work or construction choars around their property. The placement at LARS is very bad in my opinion. No one helped me with anything when it came to placement. Long story short I quit that internship b/c I ran out of money. I have never been back in the industry since 2010. Its a sad story, I spent $28,000 and only got a non paying internship out of the deal! I did have a great time and did learn a lot at the school. I moved to LA from about 1,500 miles away, so this was a huge investment for me and it just didn’t work out!!!
My initial review was 5 star but after the second class quickly realised this place is a money making ripoff Scheme. You throw away a lot of money and incur a bunch of inexplicable charges for same credits you can get a regular Community College. I fell for it but withdrew on Second class.
That black Security Guard by the la Film Main Office think he is God’s gift to mankind…smh so rude and disrespectful.
I Graduated Here In 2010 so far its good but for the Placement is pretty low since the music Industry is slow only way to order to find is alot of Networking or at best Self Promoting. so only go to this school if you want to sharpen your skills but if you doing as a career base then prepare yourself for a rough road. so its way more better to self Invest yourself
