My children attended this school for about 6 months. Initially it was pretty good from what I had observed but about 2 months in, my children really started to dislike going to school and would cling to me and cry at drop off. My children are not shy and are always confident wherever they go, so this was a telling sign. Also they began to come home in their spare clothes every single day due to “accidents”. Not to mention how they would come home looking like they’d been in a war. Often times their hair bows would be missing or replaced and this suddenly be put back on days later. My children are fully potty trained and rarely had accidents at home or any other location so this was also strange to me. The teachers in the prek classroom, claimed the children were wetting themselves at nap time out of defiance which I also found strange because they’ve never done that at home either. This would be extremely preventable if they guide the children to use the bathroom prior to nap time. A couple more months go by and I observe one of their teachers, Ms. Tenzin, dismissing and rolling her eyes at one of my kids right before I came in the classroom for pickup. I never complained about this but it told me all I needed to know. I just relocated and my children are in a new school and the difference in their behaviors and temperance is like night and day. They are happy to join their class and now speak of their teachers highly. I’m not sure if the Pre K classroom is short staffed or what, but there are a couple questionable teachers. I understand stress levels can be high and I empathize with the staff, but if it’s not tolerable then maybe a new job should be considered.
My son attended Gateway McKee before the pandemic started and we were excited to join again once it reopened. I now have two kids going there (toddler and infant) and it’s a fantastic childcare center. Compared to other daycares we tried, this place is so above and beyond my expectations. I know every person on the staff, they know my kids, they know my family. I have been especially pleased with the new director Leah and the assistant director Sara. They communicate openly and are always ready to discuss questions or concerns. As for the teachers, I can tell my kids are getting the attention they need and the kids seem to really enjoy their time with them! Truly the staff is amazing! For me, the teachers are one of the most important things I look for in childcare.

Outside of the teachers, the facility is great! Huge playground, large classrooms, even a gross motor room dedicated to moving around. My son LOVES to do foot races in there! Additionally the location is stellar, at least for my family, close to our neighborhood and not far from 485.

Finally, they do offer a childcare app with updates about the day and it include pictures. I love being able to check in on my children and their activities.

TLDR: Check it out! Staff is 5 stars all around! Awesome facility!
