After reading the review by a former employee I strongly felt the need to write about how Pembroke is as someone who is working here every day.
Firstly, Lucy has given me the freedom to do as I wish inside my classroom. She supplies our curriculum, and leaves the rest up to us! As long as it is allowed through the state of Ohio, she has had no issues with how I am teaching my amazing kids. Unfortunately I know that isnt the same situation as Casey had. I have seen first hand the trouble Casey was having with managing her classroom and teaching her class. I had personally given Casey materials that worked in my classroom to help her gain control over her kids so that they would follow the direction she gives, and I never saw her implement anything. Time and time again Casey would be needing help within her classroom and Lucy would step in to offer suggestions which were never taken. It’s very frustrating seeing everyone here try and help Casey with managing her classroom yet as soon as we leave, she does not use anything that is suggested.
Caseys comment it’s Lucy’s way or no way I feel is coming from the frustration of everyone offering help and Casey not taking it which then leaves Lucy no other choice but to advise her of the way the classroom has to be now.
Lucy went out and bought all new materials for caseys classroom, as well as new toys and manipulatives to also help with the classroom. Casey took it upon herself to make and purchase materials for her classroom to make it look more pretty.
Caseys concerns with behavioral issues within the classroom are coming from the classroom being unorganized and her not being able to manage the children she has within the room. I myself have multiple kids in my classroom who have behavioral issues and the second I went to Lucy with my concerns we have set up meetings with the parents about what steps we can take next to make sure every child has the best plan that works with them individually.
Casey stating that there are no ongoing assessments done on these children is just false. The classroom that Casey was teaching as well as 2 others are all involved with DECA, and have been continuing all year with the assessments for their children as well as their own assessments on the level their children are at. I myself assess my class 3-4 times a year to make sure they are hitting all the markers they need to be hitting.
I never wanted to come in here and have to respond to a review like this. I loved working with Casey and really enjoyed her as a coworker. It makes me really sad though that months after she has left Pembroke she is still coming and targeting Lucy. Pembroke is a family, and we all work together to make sure every single child is here and happy. They NEVER go without food, EVER! If they want more they always get more.
With any job out there, if your boss wants you to do things a certain way then that’s the way it needs to be done. With experience, and education comes trust. But when Lucy has an employee that has neither one, then of course she is going to be taking extra precautions to make sure that they are doing what needs to be done the safe and legal way.
Ms. Lucy the owner has employed the kindest and most loving teachers you could ever hope for; Ms. Kimberly who is by the far the warmest and most lovely woman who has always treated my child like her own. We LOVE pembroke!
