This is a fantastic school! It has had a shaky start but my son has attended since it opened 5+ years ago and I cannot fault the school in any way. Of course there are going to be behaviour incidents, it comes with the territory! It would worry me more if they weren’t reporting stuff!!
Yes, there are student teachers but finding staff to work in a special school is difficult at best and all the staff at The Rise have always done their best with my son and have done amazing things with his behaviour over the years, he started as an angry, confused 6yr old and is now a smart, confident boy at school and at home and I really can’t praise the school enough. I give so much credit to the staff here as their job is far from easy yet they have managed to get my son to a point where he is achieving his goals. Parents of autistic children please note, think of your child’s behaviours at home, then imagine it five-fold while they’re at school then you might realise how hard a teacher has to work!!
I would highly recommend The Rise to anyone considering sending their child there!!
It turned out they hid the fact they were an ABA school and when we discovered this they openly lied to us and other parents about practicing ABA, (the former head teacher now boasts on her resume that she help set up the first ABA free school called the rise in feltham). According to Ofstead there were 146 behaviour incidents in the April with only 34 children. We took our son out shortly after and we complained and as we were deregistering our son they reported us to Social Care. Ofstead carried out a section 8 into the school as a result of multiple complaints from parents. The school undertook an independent investigation but refuse to publish the details but have said the investigation was sparked by both parents (multiple) and staff raising concerns.

The school have conceded the section 8 was undertaken as a result of the serious nature of complaints made but they IMHO fail to recognise or admit any wrong doing or impropriety on their part which I feel is very worrying..

Parents send your kids to this school!!!!! For special students
Good people that work there
My autism literally doubled
