I was severely disappointed by my last visit. I usually choose to come here because I want to support those on their learning journey, and the meticulous attention to detail they have because they are learning is something I appreciate. On my last visit, I explained what I wanted done with my hair. The teacher, mind you the TEACHER told me she would NOT let her student do what I asked for because I “wouldn’t like it” as it was “too drastic” a change. This wasn’t a hair color or some life-altering chemical service; this was a hair cut. A simple hair cut. One I’ve gotten from this same location many times; longer in front, shorter in the back. I was instead given an even bob that does NOT look good on me that I did NOT want. Technically yes, I could call and they can fix it if I don’t like it. But the way the TEACHER told me I did not know what I wanted done with my own hair? 1. Why do you think I came to a salon and 2. I was pretty explicitly clear about what I wanted. I can not bring myself to return if this is what is being taught at this school now; the custimer doesn’t know what they want so do what you feel like and they have to deal with it.
While I know this is a school, so nothing is gonna be perfect my experience was…bad. I was there for over three hours and had to leave in the middle of my appointment because I was becoming anxious as she was doing my back layers, I noticed she chopped my “layer” way too short when cutting the layer, and it was just taking way too long. I feel bad but I got up and said I had to go. The student seemed uncomfortable with the haircut I wanted which initially didn’t help my nervousness about the whole thing but gave her a chance anyway. However, I do not want to discourage her because she and the instructor were extremely nice, but I ended up having to pay and go elsewhere to get it fixed the next day. They offered to finish it another day… but at that point I was just uncomfortable with them continuing. They need to make sure the student is confident enough to do a haircut on a person before they let them.
