I attended the Stony Brook School as a boarding student for all four years and it is an experience in my life I would never trade for anything and that I have all intentions of allowing my children the same options in their life one day. The school’s location is perfect as it is safe with plenty of local things to do and only a 2 hour train ride from the city to be able to go to shows, shopping, etc. The faculty mostly all live on campus, either in dormitory apartments or in housing that surrounds the school and this gives the school a real community feeling as they all take personal interest in our lives, we have dinner together, they often will ask students to babysit for them, and they open their homes to the students. It makes being away from home a little easier to have a family away from home. I was able to travel the world without ever leaving the country as I bonded with my fellow boarders, made friends, and learned about their homes and cultures. The education I received was priceless. When I went to college many of my fellow students and professors did not believe that I was freshman as I was comfortable and settled into a dorm room in a matter of an hour and I was able to balance school, homework and personal life immediately. I felt prepared and ready for college. I miss Stony Brook everyday and still keep in touch with many of the students and teachers that became my family over those four years. I look forward to returning to the campus, and visiting my friends all over the United States and all over the world every chance I get. I would recommend this school to any student who is serious about their future, their education, building their character and with a thirst to learn and experience things in life.
three of the better years of my life
