I could not be happier with our family’s experience with the Waldorf School of Atlanta, and Waldorf education, in general. We have two teens who did major potions of their schooling at WSA. The caring of the teachers and the wisdom of the education model, have given our children a priceless gift that they will carry with them always. These things were imparted in many ways, including the holistic model of teaching, where the children focus on a particular subject block for 3 weeks at a time, where the subject would be explored from various perspectives, always including an artistic component. I will not forget the pleasure of listening to my son, in 6th grade, sharing with us at the family dinner table the history lesson he had learned in school that day, but with feeling and interest – this is not rote learning. And the reverence with which my daughter in kindergarten lit her candle and placed it in the evergreen spiral during an annual December seasonal celebration. These are just a few snapshots of the experiences we will always value from our years with WSA.
I have 3 children at WSA 3rd, 6th and 8th grade. Waldorf education engages the whole child. It is active and deep learning. The teachers are of the highest quality. Each of my children have different learning styles and one is dyslexic. The teachers and support staff have provided the guidance each of my children have needed. Having my kids at WSA makes me want to go back to school. They are learning amazing things- woodworking, gardening, handwork (knitting, crocheting, felting and machine sewing in 8th grade) on top of all the normal subjects. Many schools talk about being a community and valuing the individual but WSA really delivers.
I can’t say enough good things about this school and especially the teachers. We are going into our 5th year with the school and my 2 children are thriving and excited about school. The teachers are amazing and go above and beyond. The unique and engaging way that concepts and lessons are introduced make learning fun and help in remembering things week to week and year to year. I love that art and music are woven into the fabric of each lesson but science and math are no less valued at WSA. It’s a different way to learn and go to school and we like that.
