Parents & Students Reviews:
Tigard Playschool has 13 reviews with an overall rating of 5. Some reviews have been edited for clarity.
1. Our son LOVES IT!!!! Everyday I ask him what he wants to do today and everyday he says, “go to school!”
2. The teachers are great! Teacher Lindsey and Teacher Saadia are gentle and responsive and have made our son feel welcome and comfortable since Day 1. Our son is never belittled in any way or forced to do things he doesn’t want to. Rather, at TPI the kids can do almost anything they want in a safe environment (as long as what they want to do does not inflict harm on themselves or others). It’s so much FUN!!! They play with their friends, make fun art projects and play outside every day! And they learn at the same time!
3. The parents are great! A great benefit of being part of a co-op school is getting to know and working with the other parents, getting to know your child’s classmates and having the other parents get to know your child. It creates a great sense of community for the parents and the kids! AND it allows for a much better child to teacher ratio in the classroom.
4. We get to play a role in our son’s education! While it does require a bigger time commitment than schools that are not cooperative, being a part of our son’s learning and school experiences is incredibly rewarding. It’s also nice to be involved in a school where all the parents have a vested interest in its success and work hard to make it great.
Even though this school is at a church they don’t beat the bible over the kids heads. It is a co-op with lots of loving community vibes and friendly smiles. The teachers and parents are very open and accepting of all of the differences of the children (including trans-gender!) which has been so refreshing to see.
The only thing that I could see as being a problem for families is that you are required to parent teach about twice every three weeks. This is why the school is so affordable, but I get why some can’t do it.
