I went here for two years. And during the time I was going here everything was perfect. I was a straight a student, and it was everything I couldve wished for in a high school. Starting my junior year I knew I wanted more. I knew I wanted to be closer to my other friends and I definitely knew I wanted more of a public high school experience. Starting my junior year I found out I only had 16 credits because TVLA was not giving me the appropriate credits. I was on track if I wanted to graduate from TVLA. But since I switched schools I was almost 3 years behind. Not even three months in my junior year I ended up dropping out because my estimated time for being in high school was another three years and I quite frankly did not have the time for that (or the patients) . TVLA is a wonderful school. All Im saying is if you are considering going there, be certain you dont want any other highschool in your future. Not to mention when we brought up the credit issue to TVLA they told me there was nothing they could do and my choices were to either come back and finish high school there or continue at Columbia high school and stay an extra year. I got incredibly depressed after hearing this news and it drove me to dropping out. I know many other students went through the same thing, arguing with counselors and principals trying to figure a way out of it. I only know of two students who graduated after leaving TVLA.
While some give other ratings, I give this school 5 stars because of how amazing it is. My parents pulled me out of elementary school because I wasn’t learning very well, then we home schooled for a few years. Ma found this school but I loved it within the first month. For me it’s like home-schooling and public school mixed into one. The teachers are very involved with the students and help us do our best. I started struggling, but my mentor helped me find what works best for my learning style.
Overall this is an AMAZING school and I cannot say enough amazing things about it in this review. I definitely plan coming here all 4 years of High school
This school only has 40 students and there was a fight club in school property and they only find out 2 months later. Do you really want your child to be attending this school and have your trust on teachers that doesn’t find out about secrets fights. The school does not care about anything except for Community engagement. Their is no respect to students to teachers and teachers to students.
