I attended this school for 5 years and personally I think that it was lacking in lessons that I needed to enable my independence. It was frustrating and highly aggravating. It was a collage that was meant to enable young people but I feel as if it just disabled me further. Also it had a devastating effect on my mental health as no one supported me through the loss of another student. This was highly traumatic and I had no support in helping me through this. They completely disregarded there duty of care and I felt beyond awful.
We used Treloar’s print unit for our wedding order of service printing. We were unfamiliar with the school until someone recommended them to us. The print unit provides training and transferable skills to young adults with physical disabilities.
We were absolutely thrilled with the finished product which were easily on a par with bigger commercial printers that I have used in the past. All delivered at a very reasonable cost, by super friendly staff, in a quick turnaround time.
Whilst I obviously cannot comment on the school as a whole I think if the print unit is an example to go by this place is great!
Was at the school/college when it became co-ed in 1978 and was there for several years although i know standards have changed i wasnt always happy at the school and at the time felt that staff were not very understanding if you had a personal issue that needed sorting i felt it was like it didnt matter and it was ignored. I revisited the school in 2014 after having left 30+ yrs earlier and saw the vast changes and although i felt awkward i was pleasantly surprised at the changes in a way that if ever an oportunity came up to work at the place i would love it as i feel id relate well with the students. Overall although i didnt have a great experience(personal reasons) i WOULD reccommend the place to any parent looking for a high standard school for disabled children/adults.
