Unfortunately 3 of our children have had to attend this school, this past school year. We are completely and utterly disappointed in the school’s staff as well as some of the teachers. The staff has a total disregard in what their job consists of. They are loose in their supervision over students, they let them go home by different forms of transportation without parental consent.

The children have spoke of how their peers talk about drugs, racism, sex, etc. Things that children shouldn’t even be consumed with at this age. When trying to reach a school official regarding concerns and that you are seeking their help in a resolution. It can take a week or two to have someone from there contact you. Also, Georgia as a whole really needs to obtain better educated teachers.

An individual can substitute after only one semester of College. I believe that is a HUGE problem. The schools/teachers also could use sensitivity training when comes to dealing with parents who are in a panic. I have never seen so many people with a lack of empathy. To tell a parent that they don’t know where their child is, but can assure you they left ( but have no clue to whom with), it’s none of their concern nor their job to keep up with that. Um, I think it is your job to keep up with the students that are on your time as well ensure they go home with the appropriate person.

Turner has a great band program. Mr. Willis works with students with absolutely no prior knowledge at all. He has a very disciplined band that has grown to respect him. He gives you skills to use within and without the band room without students realizing it. He builds not just a community but a family. With the majority of the band program consisting of approximately 2/3 of the school’s population I’d say Mr. Willis has left his legacy. Turner’s goal is to not just have students achieve a good education, but help students surpass their goals and work towards more. You cannot force students to want to excel in their learning but still effort is still needed. Teachers I’ve had give students as many resources as possible to help a student no matter how unwilling the child may be. A determined learner has all the capability to succeed in Turner Middle School.
My grand daughter goes to this school. She has constantly talked about how the teachers and staff falsely accuse students. She got in trouble for writing Eminem lyrics on her binder which another teacher saw. I personally know that kids listen to worse than eminem. I was astonished when her math grade was low. I understand if the staff and/or teachers don’t like children but you still do not have the right to not accomodate to everyones learning methods.
