The school does have some excellent support staff and resources for families. Most of the teachers were good, even if poorly trained in gifted and twice-exceptional education. There is a lot of potential. However, to say that the administration is poor would be an incredible understatement.
My twice-exceptional student was bullied and nothing was done to stop the bullying. A clearly needed 504 plan was denied. A traumatic incident occurred on the playground and was handled so atrociously that my student developed crippling social anxiety and is still in therapy for it two and a half years later.
If you have a child with high functioning autism/ Asperger’s, this is not the place for your family.
Also, if you have a highly gifted student, beware that the administration is vehemently against any kind of acceleration, even single-subject acceleration, and is prone to getting quite emotional about it.
I just got in trouble for absolutely nothing in my study hall. And this other kid got his recesses taken away FOR ASKING A QUESTION. Is this a joke? I did nothing and neither did he. Mr. Groman, my teacher, sent me to the hallway. He really needs to loosen up. I dont want to be there as it is and he is not making it better. All the other teacher are fairly nice and the people are great.
