I dislike this school very much with the exception of some staff. Ms Hannah is great with keeping communication open and positive. As far as the principal and the teachers, they are very unprofessional. You can’t tell someone that their concerns or suggestions to help their own child is null and void. We are supposed to be a team in the success of the child/scholar. These children are NOT robots with the 2 bathroom breaks within a 7:30am to 4pm schedule. This is not a military school, I literally sat in the school all day with my child and to see people bent over yelling in a students face, could’ve been spitting on them. The child was crying uncontrollably, and yes the child was having a tantrum but the staff is NOT the parent. This school is more concern with RATINGS than what’s REALLY wrong with the children. They DO NOT Address “Bullying” – they continue to keep the children around each other. They strep-type our “Urban” children. I’m disgusted!!!!!
Rochester Preps Staff are very controlling of the students and their parents. They need to treat the students and parents with respect and listen to their concerns. They don’t want to hear the parents views. When you disagree with the manner in which they administer evaluations and or discipline they try to marginalize you -put you in your place. They do not want to have relationship built on mutual respect. They want a relationship built on a dictatorship and that might be fine for parents who don’t want to be fully engaged in the schooling process-but I DO. I have found the leadership on Jay Street to be condescending and “save the black children.”
The school is great. My son as learned so much in such a short period of time. They are very well organized and the staff works as a team. Wonderful place for your child to become a scholar. Keep up the good work Rochester Prep.
