I would be happy to talk to anyone who has a gifted student who is not currently being challenged in their classes. I have 2 children at University School of the Lowcountry which goes from 3rd to 12th grade. When we realized how bored our academically gifted daughter was (despite SAIL program, enrichment and additional activities at Sullivans Island Elementary School) we decided to try USL. This year my daughter will graduate with several college classes behind her. (ie College of Charleston Physics, not an online college or A.P.course)

What type of education do they get? One day they may tour a Jewish Synagogue, the next week they may go to a sewerage treatment plant and last month they returned from a US Citizenship naturalization ceremony with this story: ” Friday’s Naturalization Ceremony – “The Judge was crying because his grandfather swore his oath of American citizenship in the courtroom in which he now presides.” Quotes like this reveal the insights our group of 14 students gained by witnessing Friday’s naturalization service at Charles Pinckney Historic Site. Understanding how one becomes an American citizen — students examined the 20+ page application to begin the process and all of the steps involved — is important. Seeing the emotional end result of attaining American citizenship is a priceless lesson in civics education. Experiences like this are an important part of our program to create active, informed, and engaged citizens and future voters!”

That is what kind of education they get!

Please share with families of gifted students.

Great private school (grades 3-HS). Kids thrive in small class sizes and LOTC (Learning Outside The Classroom) each week. They not only educate, but prepare kids for life outside the classroom.
