Our anxiety completely went away when we met Kiran and Kashif from University Village Montessori. My husband and I went to an sort of “Q&A” about the school before they were even open. I learned more about the Montessori philosophy, how it’s child led, but still focused and how they do use creativity through painting, drawing, and projects. I also found out that Kiran decided to go to school to go through the entire Montessori Education trail- so she understood how to build the perfect Montessori school. She did this with the intentions of being the director. I loved that!
I feel so lucky that we stumbled upon UVMS before they even opened their doors in 2013. My son was one of the first students there and we have seen the school grow, and fill to capacity in some classes. I appreciate so many things about this school. 1. I know he’s safe. They have a locked door policy and you can’t get in unless you are buzzed in. 2. The teachers are well educated, and understand the Montessori way. My son’s teacher, Ms Laura has studied Montessori all over the world and incorporates interesting life skills such as taking care of plants, gardening, and yoga in their daily routine. 3. They have parent sessions to educate parents on how to lead a more Montessori way of life at home and to make sure we understand what our children are doing in class, and why. 4. They go outside EVERY SINGLE DAY (Unless, obviously, it’s super, super cold, or storming.) 5. They cater an organic lunch that’s INCLUDED in tuition. 6. The school is super clean and always kept up. 7. You can go and observe your child if you are curious. They have two way windows so your child can’t see you. I seriously could go on and on and on.
I started my son at 3 and decided to start my daughter at 18 months. I knew she would flourish and develop even more away from an all day nanny and in a place where she could learn, socialize, and gain confidence. And, she has. Day 3 she put on her own shoes. The development I have seen with my children have been truly amazing. They are Independent. Accountable. Empathetic. and Nurturing. All values of the Montessori way.
If you are curious or are looking for somewhere where your children would be safe, educated, and will learn to put away their own plate after eating- this may be the place for you.
I’m just one happy mom, lucky to have found such an amazing school. 🙂
