As a former student, I strongly advise against sending your children to this school. The quality of teaching is inconsistent and entirely dependent on your child’s teacher. Many teachers during my attendance clearly disliked their jobs and, seemingly, their students. While the facilities and marketing present this school favorably, your child’s experience and development do not appear to be priorities for the management and staff.
It used to be a great school some time ago. Now, however, it has become toxic and corrupt. Moreover, the school is allowing teachers to have nose piercings, visible body tattoos, and revealing clothing, with zero respect for local culture and values. Where are the local authorities/KHDA in all of this?! Furthermore, students related to the school’s owners receive special treatment compared to other students, causing even more issues.
My kids joined this school last year, and I personally think it was one of the best decisions I made. The opportunities and pathways the school provides to keep students on the right track have reassured us that our children are getting a high-quality education.

Our child was given experience and an opportunity through the latest internship with Turner & Townsend and Design Engineer Construction, the first school in the Middle East to offer such a program.

Corrupted School.

It was amazing until primary school.
In secondary school, there is a significant concern that authorities in Dubai must address for the reputation of the education sector. Vaping and alcohol use are prevalent in bathrooms, and bullying is rampant. The school fosters an extremely negative and detrimental environment where children cannot thrive. I had to save my daughter and move her to another Taaleem IB school where they implement rules within a loving and disciplined environment.

Our daughter has been studying at Uptown International School since KG1. She is now in Grade 7. When we were initially looking for a school for her, one thing we were clear about was the curriculum. Secondly, we wanted an all-out IB school, not starting at a later level. We were glad to have found UIS. The teaching methods, teachers’ approach, and overall well-being of a child are well taken care of. Yes, undoubtedly there are hiccups, but the school’s open-door policy makes it workable. We have always found someone who is ready to listen and address a concern that we have had as parents. Our daughter has grown to be a smart and social person. She is also very athletic, and the school has great facilities that enable her to pursue her athletic studies. If, as a parent, you are looking for a well-rounded school, then Uptown International is the perfect choice!
Worst school ever, please do not go. The worst teacher is Mr. Wright. People will say he’s kind, so he is a bit better, but he’s not. Mr. Wright is a terrible teacher, has a terrible life, a red face, terrible style, and makes terrible decisions. This school is very, very strict, and please, I beg of you, DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE! It has very strict, stupid rules.
I have been at this school for nearly seven years now. I would say it is one of the best IB schools in Dubai. The teachers are lovely and have a true grasp of the IB course, making it perfect for new students to adjust comfortably to the curriculum. Honestly, I feel like this school is the best place to send your kids, as the school itself is not only committed to bringing out the best in everyone, but the community that surrounds it makes it feel like a second home. Special shout-out to Mr. Wright, a truly exceptional teacher.
