I beg you, do not send your child here. This is the absolute worst school you could ever choose for them. Granted, there are a few nice people, but the overall experience is TERRIBLE. The administration is horrible. The teachers (usually get fired or arrested during the year) don’t care about the students. The environment is overall detrimental to the students. Everyone knows that this is the school you go to to get drugs. It’s a hive of filth and corruption that is a horrible environment to learn it. My brother was emotionally abused by the teachers and students. It shattered his mental health. Years later, his life has still been ruined. Once you go, you never truly leave. It also destroyed my best friend. I’ve talked to a former administrator who quit after realizing how bad it is, and she compared it to hell. It is much worse, according to her, than the juvenile detention facility she currently works at. I cannot stress enough how bad this school is. Don’t send your child here. There are plenty of better schools in the district that are willing to work with money and transportation issues to get kids out of this district. Please consider another school. You don’t need this. Also, they don’t teach as much curriculum as surrounding schools. It’s less of an opportunity. Urbana City Schools will set you on the wrong track of life. Again, please avoid this school like the PLAGUE.
It is probably the worst school district in the area. The teachers (except for a select few) are terrible. They are very lazy, don’t care about the students, and are outright cruel sometimes to the students. Although it is pretty negative most of the time, there are some amazing people that work in the district. Jeff Kendall, one of the janitors at the high school, is one of the nicest persons you’ll ever meet. He will talk to all the students and make sure they are having a good day and if you aren’t, he’ll brighten it up for you. Also David M. Sapp (director of bands) is one of the coolest guys you’ll ever meet. He is a really great band director and probably one of the best out there. He is also one of those teachers that cares more about his students than his job.
Very good people
