The staff at UCAS is also incredibly dedicated and caring. Students are held to higher standards of attendance, academic performance, and scholarship. My daughters have all taken speech (I encourage them to) and it helps with self confidence and social skills which are both needed in life today.
UCAS also has the BEST support staff. From secretaries (we love you Julie!) to administration (Jennilyn is amazingly compassionate and fair, organized and capable of her role as principal) to counselors (RAND is the man) and assistant secretaries, we just love UCAS.
I love watching my children struggle, plan, practice their way through UCAS. The homework typically takes them 2-4 hours after school. It is not for the uncommitted because if you fail a college course, you pay it back (at market value!!) so don’t think this is a gimme. It’s hard work but it’s the best High School/Early College High School available and I’m happy to leave them a review (since my kids already bypass the lottery for sibling privileges;) and hope more academically minded parents will send their children here for an early start on college:)
If you’re child is looking for a career in science, technology, engineering, or math then you should definitely look into UCAS. My one caveat is there is very little to no performing or visual arts and no sports. If you decide on UCAS, you will have to supplement those outside of school.
