My grandchild starts six form today, after struggled in a Bury secondary school for 2 years before moving at 13 to UTC .The Bury secondary school lacked the support needed because my grandchild was different. After thriving at UTC, their differences & creative side was encouraged. UTC school approach to treating the students as people, no matter who or how they are in the world, is a winner for us .The child with struggling grades in Bury, achieved 8 & 9s and distinctions at GCSE level at UTC and is very happy to start 6 form. The effort on our part to travel everyday to get Jo, & 2 other children from Bury has paid off for us. So for those negative people reviewing the school, I say this “no it is not the ‘run of mills’ school, it’s approach is different, they respect their pupils as individuals, and expect that respect back” so if your child is lacking in that area then this is not the the school for them. Thank you so much UTC, I wish I could have gone to a school like yours.
Ive been going to this school for 2 years now and I’m going into college in 3 months and can’t wait. I see a lot of negative reviews but I seriously don’t know why. I have never heard of or met better teachers in my life and the school safeguarding team are second to none.

The only real downside to the school are the students attending it. They see the school as somewhere they can do what they want when in reality, they cant. The behaviour system is slightly more relaxed than other schools but everyone still complains because they expect no behaviour system at all.

During the exam period, we had 2 hours revision sessions for each exam and after the first week, the school asked us all how they could improve for our benefit. After half the school said the revision was too long, they changed it to an hour and 30 minutes and surprise surprise some students complained that “they shouldn’t need to go into school for an hour and a half. Its pointless”.

The school try their absolute hardest to make sure they are the best they can be for the students and I couldn’t ask for more from them.

My Daughter left a high achieving school to start here in year 10 as she was struggling with severe social anxiety and was miserable at her old school. Whenever I ask her do you think we made the right decision changing schools she overwhelmingly agrees that we did.

She still suffers from severe social anxiety but the school are very supportive. The more relaxed uniform and ability to be themselves with colourful hair and nail paint helps them to feel more at ease.

I would recommend this school to anyone who has a child who needs a change or is unhappy in their current situation. Results aren’t everything and I’m pretty sure my daughter will do just fine in her GCSE’s at UTC Media City as the teaching staff are great.

A majority of the students are fine, but some are incredibly rude about strangers on public transport and fellow students. You don’t get given any coursework and the teachers are either fine or rude and unorganised. You get given detentions for no reason and are punished for not writing quick enough. Would NOT reccommend.

As an addendum, students VAPE. IN. CLASS.

This school is definitely the worst school my kid as ever been to the most of the teacher are shocking also not one of them seem to know how to drive or park I had had a teacher drive at me just so he can park they seem to like abusing there power they seem to try and bully there way though the day sending kids home for a bit of colour on there clothing then cramming them in a room saying it’s not going to be tolerated but the next day let it slip I would keep your kids away no good. also some of the good reviews are off teachers
