Valrico Elementary School, Valrico | Fees, Rankings, Address, Admission, Vacancies, Reviews & More

Today August 31st my 6 yr old daughter was sent home from Valrico Elementary School via hillsborough county school bus. Her normal routine is to go to Daycare after school via daycare bus. I received a voicemail on my cell phone at 1:57pm from office personal at the school stating they had a question for me and would like me to call them back at my earliest convenience regarding my childs dismissal. The school didn’t bother waiting for a response from me or bother calling my work phone or my husband, they took it upon themselves to send my daughter home 5.2 miles away from the school via school bus in the pouring rain. I find this highly unacceptable and would like to get the word out. I have contacted the school and was told by their principal Mrs. Simenson that there was simply a confusion and they apologize and asked me what they would like me to do!! I then proceeded to call District 6 to report the incident and was told by Mr. Oast that this sounds like a misunderstanding! How is sending a 6 year old child home without permission from parents a misunderstanding?? They put my daughters life in danger and for this someone needs to loose their job!!

Me and my husband purchased a home in Valrico 2 years ago. I was really skeptical about this school because it is predominately Caucasian and we are African American. I have to say I had a 5th grader, an 1st grader and a kindergartner. This school has been fabulous. Any issues I have had have been handled right away by the principal or guidance counselor in record time. I will advise anyone who is looking for a great school to come her. Mrs. Oliver is simply my favorite person to work with she has such compassion and is a true advocate for children.
