I went to this school all four years of high school and graduated there . I am going to share my experience exactly the way it was without sugarcoating it. Alright, it’s not a terrible school, but there are some serious issues that need to be looked into and handled better than they were.

I’m going to discuss the way they handled bullying at this school. My two brothers and I have had similar experiences with getting bullied at this high school, but to make it short and sweet, all three of us have been bullied badly and the school brushed it off and forgot about the situation or did not give a care about the situations. Several students had serious behavioral problems and had horrible attitudes and some of the staff either didn’t notice or did not care.

Second of all is the food they serve. Don’t even get me started on the school lunches there! Most of it looked inedible, therefore I brought my lunch.

I also want to talk about the drainage issues. When it rains or storms in California, it pours, and being in a school that has lunch breaks and passing periods outside can make things extremely difficult when the sky is pouring. The drainage system there is terrible and had caused several giant puddles, and it’s really frustrating when students have to walk in that! I did an article in the Valhalla (the school newspaper) about this issue discussing this problem and offering solutions, but as far as I know they have yet to fix it, unless they did after I graduated and I never knew it.

I agree with Amara Black’s review that they spend more money on useless junk than using that money for better causes, like the drainage problems I mentioned earlier.

I will mention the good parts about the experience though. I received a fair education and made many friends that I am still associating with today in some shape or form. I did have a few teachers, not giving the names for the sake of their privacy, that did listen when I had an issue and I learned a lot from. I made many memories there that I have not forgotten.

If things have changed since I graduated, I will be surprised, but I do not know. Overall, my experience was not terrible, but it wasn’t the best.

Good school I guess, But I joined for only half of a school year, and I had somewhat of a bad experience. No-one really made me feel at home, but more like an alone weirdo, which is definitely not how my personality is. Went into the school with no friends, and left with no friends, only 3 months later to move back to where I came from. School is somewhat behind on efficiency. I came from Roseville High District, and they have much better workflow, with everyone having a Chromebook and a complete google system for everyone, it was extremely easy to get assignments done. Vanden’s system was a complete disaster, half of my assignments were paper, half digital and an all around efficiency nightmare. And what they spend tax payer money on is not even effective, and all the class rooms are extremely cold. Just some points I felt like everyone should hear.
It’s not a terrible school, but there are a few things that could use changes. The fact that our yard duties and campus monitiors have 4 super nice carts (that they barely use) for such a small campus shows that the school would rather spend money on useless things than on supplies (such as new textbooks, computers, classroom supplies in general). I don’t understand. I can walk around the camus in 5 minutes max!! If that!! They don’t need 4 golf carts! Instead of spending money on useless things, they should spend money on actual necessities.
