My son was injured playing football with other students and was hurt. A fellow student ran to get a proctor because my son was crying. He was sent to the health office. The health aid did not examine his arm however she did notice that my son wasn’t wearing a collared shirt. She dress coded him, gave him another shirt made him change then gave him an ice pack and sent him back to class. If she had taken a minute to look at his arm she would have seen it was red and swollen. Our son sat in class for 2 1/2 hours in pain until school was released. By the time we got him my son’s arm and hand were twice the size of his other arm and hand and there was a Knott and bruising. Took him to the emergency room and he had a fracture. Then 3 days later he was in a splint at school and another student (on accident) knocked him down. He went to the health office again this time she decided to call home and asked our son for my phone number he couldn’t remember and she was rude to him saying “oh my gosh really ___”. She should have pulled his emergency card that is her job. My son had multiple doctors notes excusing him from p.e. all physical activities but was made to participate anyways. I wrote a formal complaint with the district and received their response where all they did was make excuses and justify the way the health aid handled the situation. This is unacceptable.
