This district goes to tremendous lengths to deny students IEPs (special ed services) even when the evidence that they qualify is overwhelming. They are too cheap and lazy to give the kids what they need so they do bogus and biased assessments to deem students ineligible. I know several parents who’ve had to move just so they can put their kids in other districts where they almost immediately give the students IEPs and who have even looked at Ventura Unified’s IEP assessments which they find bizarre and biased, expressing confusion as to the validity of VUSD’s assessments and their concluding reports which contradict their own data . When I’ve tried to advocate for my kid they’ve retaliated treating my kid even worse where she comes home crying every day . They also do nothing when a student is bullied . They like to blame the victim even when she has attempted to seek help when being chased by a perpetrator and winds up getting badly beaten up.
I recommend avoiding this district at all costs!!
These are the last people you want around your children. Ventura Unified School district provides a dangerous environment for kids and parents alike. They keep calling Child Protective Services on us. Child protective services told us to take our child out of this school district. In addition the school district sent the police to our home where they pointed guns and me and my child. Don’t believe me? I have highly credible witnesses.
Half of the building is occupied by the Ventura Unified School District and the other half is occupied by the Ventura County Community College District. The location does seem very far away from the campuses that both the high school and community college districts oversee. I assume that this location is where all of the human resources and employment related questions are to be directed.
