My other areas of complaint are the lack of communication from the school. There just isnt any communication at all. If you ask questions no one seems to know how to answer them, instead they beat around the bush and claim they will find out, but dont. Or if you let them know that your child needs help with one thing or another like remembering to hand in a library book for example. It just seems to go in one ear and out the other. My last major issue with the school is the lack of decent education. I dont know if it was just my sons teacher or the school in general, but let me tell you how disappointing it is to watch your child slowly revert in his education with the school at fault. He was learning the same thing over and over and never anything new. When my husband and I first noticed, this happening I contacted his teacher and stated the problem. I asked her to please challenge him more. Come to find out, her idea of challenge was to have my son help her out around the classroom cleaning and things. Seeing nothing was being done to properly educate my son, my husband and I took the liberty to educate our son ourselves, even more than we did before. We work with him on reading, math, spelling, money, time and science. All of which are barely in or not in at all, Heans first grade curriculum. Heans main concern in education is pulling up the kids that are behind and leaving the other kids who are excelling to waste time.
Needless to say, my son will be attending second grade at New Direction Learning Community this year. My Daughter will also be attending NDLC 4K there this year, and I have every intention to have my youngest attend when he starts school. For NDLC meets and exceeds mine and my husbands expectation of what education should be.
