Totally confused parent:

I have a child that attends this school. I have had issues with the bullying. Not all reports make it to the Baltimore City Public School Board. Along with the issue that some of the teachers do not know how to handle child with ADHD. All they seem to do is call the house to let me know when my child does wrong. Not when wrong is done to my child. I have pleaded with the school to contact me with all of the issues that involve my child. They seem to misplace phone numbers to their conveyance. Example, he was assaulted by a student. Was I contacted that my child was assaulted by the student. No. All I get when I called the school was an apology , being said that they forget to call me. My child threatened a teacher, not placing a single hand on her. And I was called into school being told that he needed his medication upped and then my child received a short term suspension. Hypothetically, say I did not know that my child was punched in the back of the head (he came home and told me). Was he taken to the nurses office NO! What if he went to sleep and never woke up.? This school has children that do not even belong in the school. Busing children in from out of the district. Hoodlums and troublemakers.

Mind you my child is in the third grade. Having to wear a school uniform, can be a huge expense for a single mother. They say to help with the bully issues. Ha! Is all I can say. I have tried to handle this the best I can. Taken my child to therapy and placed on medication! What more can I do to prove that my child is being singled out because he is an IEP student and requires more than the school can provide. Asking for him to be transferred..was like asking Reinhold to be a principal and stay in the school. Other than every time you ask for her she is out of the building. She should do her job..stay at the school other than just for school announcements and special events. I wonder if the Baltimore Public School knows about her extra curricular activities that they pay her for. Sure is not being a stay at school principal. I don’t know her personally because in the time my child started this school I may have seen her a handful of time. Even with the IEP meetings the vice principal and principal seem to be too busy dealing with discipline issues than making time for a special education meeting for my child.

My family has had issues before my child entered this school with the same problems. Their children have fallen victim to the mislead staff and discipline rule. Why do I hear about what my child does when it comes to the staff but not other students. “Are the special cases” the children that get bussed into Violetville that more important than others? Guns and switch blades pulled out on students in the school with security cameras? Get real. They just want the funding for the school. Why they teach bare minimum in the school and have movie Thursdays?

They things I hear from students that attend this school. Are unbelievable and later found out to be true. The school bus..geeus.. the aid on the school bus is okay with singing as long it has to do with Black History Month. Yet, the minute my child opens his mouth he is written up.. Shouldn’t all the students be treated equally?

Please help me on this am a concerned parent that is trying to figure out what the hell is going on with this school. This is a social site. So if I find out that my child is being singled out, because I have the amendment right of freedom of speech. Just be glad I have not taken this to court to remove your ass of the teaching staff. Do not dare try to single out my child because you cant handle the messed up truth about your school.

thank you.

My children have been going to this school since pre-k, year 2007. In the beginning, children didn’t have to wear uniforms. The school was not yet remodeled. It was a great school, no fights, great teachers, and my children never came home and complained about bullying or hating school or that the teachers don’t care. Now we are getting ready to start the 2014/2015 school year and I am dreading it!! The uniforms cost too much, the supply list gets bigger every year, the teachers are horrible and do not care for the children they teach, as far as grades. When grades fall, no one in that school offers after school help or make-up work. Teachers are always getting attacked physically by students, students fight other students and no one stops the fights except for parents, the faculty never jumps in or rep remands the problem causing students. All of the good teachers have quit. There are no school activities like basketball teams or cheerleading or any school clubs. There is no school spirit. There is too much bullying and fighting, children are not able to learn, they are always distracted. The teachers never give feedback or answer notes parents send to the teachers. Once children get to 6th grade they are not allowed to ride the school bus, they have to take the public MTA BUS, and get to school before the doors open and have to wait over a half hour to get in. The field trips are always the same and horrible. The faculty is unorganized. The school has literally turned into a place I do not want my children to be at. I want to move from my home just so my children can go to a better school with opportunities. This by far is a school I used to love and now despise. I would not recommend anyone sending their children to this school.
