The teachers, for the most part, are good. They are student-centered from what I’ve seen, and usually address concerns immediately. I live the teachers thus far.

However, there is some serious organizational areas that need serious addressing. Programs, such as plays/musicals, “Daddy-daughter” dances, and etc., seem to be as if during staff meetings the “Good Idea Fairy” comes in, waves it’s Wand of Wandering Minds, and entrances them to plan things no later than a week or two out. Yet, even when things are given three or more weeks notice, times change at the last minute, sometimes the day before, completely rendering weeks of planning and notice worthless. I’ve had few instances over the last couple years where I had to explain why I suddenly could only make it to only one if my kid’s programs. Oh, and this doesn’t just apply to programs; parent-teacher conferences fall under the same whimsical umbrella. Thankfully, these”programs”are far and in between each other, but all that does is make me wonder how they mess these up so bad. When I grew up, my school had things planned from day one. If course things were cancelled our shifted every now and then, but at least we knew what was coming up, about when to expect it, and was given ample notice.

So, educationally speaking, the school is more than fine, the teachers are wonderful. Administratively speaking, don’t expect to know much of… Well, anything, really.

I love this school. I was only there until 3rd grade before having to move but I have a lot of fond memories of that school and the teachers. Now I’m a senior in high school wishing to be at Vista Hills again
