I am a parent of an Autistic child and I must say one thing. I have spoken with and have checked out other private schools and no other school has ever come close to the Von Wedel when it comes to how well they have taken care of my baby girl. They have allowed our therapists in and have made it very comfortable for them to shadow and help guide my daughter as she faces the enormous challenge of being an autistic child in a neuro-typical environment. The teachers and the administrators have all taken it upon themselves to work with my wife and I in making my daughter’s experience truly enriching. I am indebted to this school for all they have done for my daughter. They have stayed late to meet with us and our therapists. They have given us sound advice and feedback with regards to how they see my daughter’s progress and even relationship with the various therapists. I want to give a special thanks to Mr. Rene, the school’s dean, for his patience and willingness to help us through this challenge and a very special and warm thanks to Chiara’s teachers: Ms. Maggie and Ms. Lisette. For my wife and I, it has been a relief to be as warmly welcomed as Von Wedel has been with us.

I can’t even put into words how happy I am with the decision to start my 15 month (now 18 month) daughter at this school. I interviewed many schools in the area, and Von Wedel came very highly recommended. I won’t lie that initially while we were enrolling her we were a little frustrated and nervous with the follow up from the administration. However once she started we no longer had any concerns after meeting her “cherry blossom” teachers. We love Ms. Ana and Ms. Janet. As a first time mom, I was very nervous but these teachers show my little one so much love and genuinely care for her. They are also so considerate and thoughtful of the parents. You ask my little one “who loves you” she responds “Ana”. They provided me reassurance and confidence that my little one is in good hands.

In terms of development, we have noticed changes in her since the first week. She has become independent, her motor skills have improved, her vocabulary is amazing and she is very social. She loves to sing and dance. We continue to see changes in her everyday.

I cannot even begin to describe the affection that I have for the Von Wedel Montessori school, North Miami campus. First and foremost, my daughter’s teacher is AMAZING. My daughter just turned 5 yesterday, and she can read (full Dr. Suess books), write (she writes letters to people, seriously), count (to over 100!), add/subtract, she knows manners, her fine motor skills (drawing, lego building) are better than my 50-year-old stepdad’s fine motor skills…I could go on and on! I would love to take credit for a lot of these things, but every single one I must credit (at least in part) to her teacher and this amazing school. Every teacher that I have had the pleasure of meeting is AMAZING and both the office staff and Administration are attentive to the students’ needs and cognizant/respectful for the parents’ individual goal for their child or children. I recommend this school to everyone who is looking for a good Montessori in Miami, and to all of the people who don’t live in Miami who think we don’t have good schools!!! We have Von Wedel!! 🙂
