I cannot say enough great, awesome life changing this Challenge was for my son. He went in a boy and came out a respectful, appreciative smarted man. He was on his third strike and if he went to the WYA and finished they took the third strike out and sealed his juvenile record. He went in with a GPA of 1.6 and came out at 3.6. Structure structure structure was the key to his success! If your thinking about sending your teen there, do it. Go to the orientation, listen, apply and don’t ever back down once your choice to send your teen to the WYA!
My son, after he got home and graduated he wanted to go back. What does that tell you? It’s worth it, save your kid from failure!
My son is successful, went into the Army reserves, excels, learned a trade, does HVAC working in the industrial setting, self sufficient. He says if he didn’t go to the WYA he would not be this successful and he still uses the tools that were taught at the WYA. He is 23 now!
I graduated 2016-1 & this it was such an amazing experience!! Like it’s is wonderful, never got used to early mornings & at the time you feel like time goes slow but trust me once it’s over and it’s 5+ years after you can’t help but to reminisce on the timeless memories &once in a lifetime experiences , bonds & friendships you make ! The staff really do put their heart into their jobs. I got to say that I’d never felt healthier, more focused, and motivated in my entire life. I learned so many valuable things during my time at the academy! Definitely one of the best memories and achievements of my life! Do it do it do it! Recommend 100%. You’re not too bad or too good for this , if you have been encouraged to go take the opportunity! Embrace the experience life goes by too fast! Plus the credits you can earn are soooo helpful & the teachers are for you not against you they want you to succeed so they will find ways to get you those credits!
I’m 25 now and was in class 2011-1. This experience pulled me out of a bad path in high school and taught me a strong work ethic. I’m successful and have a family now, I still look back on the time I had here and the life long connections and memories I made here. I’ll never forget it and if anyone is thinking about it, do it and you’ll never look back. Thanks again.
