We have 3 kids at this school. Our oldest (in 7th grade) started there in 1st grade. We ran into financial difficulty during her second year there and, regrettably, sent her to Menlo Park Academy for second grade. We did this even though WCA made a very generous offer for us to stay (which we should have taken). After one year at Menlo, the supposedly amazing school for gifted kids, we put her back in WCA. The difference in our child’s character was very noticable. WCA was not just interested is educating our kids, they also wanted to develop their character. This applies to the teachers, administrators, fellow parents, and volunteers. Over the years there has been times we could afford full tuition, and times we had to rely on the kindness and generosity of the school and its donors to help us keep our kids at WCA. The level of kindness, passion, involvement, and love displayed by staff and other parents/families is overwhelming.

I will say, the academics are very rigorous at WCA. You will have to be involved in your child’s education. They make no bones about this when you apply. The school does not have some of the extensive resources that are available to some other schools, but they are growing and have more of those resources every year. If you are looking to educate your child with a Christian world view and values, you can do no better than WCA.

I am not saying that everything will be perfect. But I can say that the problems you’ll experience at other schools (especially public schools) are substantially fewer (or non-existent) at WCA.

Love this school and pray that we can find the means of keeping our kids enrolled until they graduate.

Update 11/08/2022: our eldest child is now in 10th grade. She just completed 2 college courses through the college credit plus program at WCA (with Cedarville University) she received A’s in both classes. WCA continues to be a beacon of light in the world of education. All 3 of our kids are thriving there. The school is growing so fast. They have added numerous resources and faculty. I continue to be amazed at the quality of people they bring on board. I am so grateful our kids were enrolled at WCA through the pandemic. Especially after hearing nightmarish stories from our friends who have kids in other schools.

This school is the best!

Two of our five children have attended this school’s upper school grades. One graduated in the first graduated class at WCA. The other is currently a freshman. Of the many attributes I appreciate about this school, the one I most appreciate is the personal care that the teachers have shown my children. At every teacher conference and in every personal conversation, each and every teacher has been tuned into not only the academic performance and needs of my children but also the underlying character development of each child. There is great comfort to say to a teacher, “Please view my child as if they were yours, and please let me know of any concern, no matter how small, that you may have.” and have every confidence that the teacher will indeed care to that level.

WCA offers a rigorous curriculum within a classical Christian model. It is important to understand what this statement means to your child and your family. Latin and logic are not always what young people encounter in their course sequencing in other schools, yet many students find such engagement enjoyable. Becoming aware of WCA’s expectations within their educational model will help families succeed.

My children have previously participated in the Lake Effect conference through the school’s athletic programming done in conjunction with the homeschool group Hearts for Jesus Christ.

WCA is not strongly diverse. It strongly reflects the demographic of its surroundings and those churches from which its student body is drawn. However, the school does have a desire to have its students understand the diverse world into which they will launch. Many of the tools essential to enable dialogue about the world are embedded into the WCA curriculum.

I will always count the opportunities that WCA has afforded my children as a direct blessing from God.

We’ve been here for 3 years now and all of us love this school so much. I have 5 in the school this year. I have some advance learners and some with reading differences and they are a great school for both ends of the spectrum. They challenge my advance student and offer help for the ones that learn different from others. They are not only about educating your child well but also focus a lot on building character, confidence and growing them spiritually. They truly link arms with parents to grow leaders for Christ. We love this school and can’t say enough good things about their Classical curriculum, amazing staff, the way they shepherd hearts, the fun activities and field trips, and how well they honor God.
