They honestly need to get rid of the Aleks program. I am writing this from college and not a single thing I learned while attending this school has prepared me for college. Aleks screwed me so hard in math because it encouraged me to learn something for a short period of time, pass the DSA, then forget the whole topic entirely. I have learned more in a few hours of one college math class than I have 4 years of doing Aleks at this high school. So far I can’t say that I have needed to use any knowledge that I have learned from this school. The shop cycle is way less dreadful and actually enjoyable depending on if you end up liking your trade. My main gripe is the math program. Most teachers I really liked, but god the math program. It’s the reason I am making this 1 star. I barely have any basic understanding of algebra going into college so I have had to teach myself. Aleks completely destroys the rating. Since math is a very important subject for many future careers, you may want to rethink your decision on sending your child here just based on the poor math program alone.
At this time I am very unimpressed with accidemics at this school. I am very concerned with the way the math program is run. I worry that me sending my son to this school may have been the biggest mom mistake I have ever made.
The trade options are great and with the baby boomers retiring soon it can be Very lucrative to posses some of the skills offered. So that is defiantly a plus for the school. However with the lack of general education, Im not sure I would recommend this particular school.
According to state test scores, 17% of students are at least proficient in math and 62% in reading.
I signed my son for this school so did my daughter sighed my granddaughter and they did not accept them idk why with high honors both of them and I know people that lived in New York and her son was accepted to kaynor and another person got her daughter in just reside in ct not even a year because someone that works there got them in I dont think thats fair,my kids were born and raised here and were not given the opportunity to go to kaynor.I think that was so unfair and dirty
