This school was sadly not a good fit for our family. There are some wonderful teachers though which helped get us through. I would give them 5 stars! There seems to be an issue with the kiddos having too much fun during the school day. From what I’m hearing Gwinnett county mainly focuses on academics and those test scores and not the child as a whole…our kiddos feel like just another number. The playground/green space is not right next to the school so the walk there and back takes about 10 minutes away from recess! That leaves them roughly 5 minutes to play! Older students play on a black top surface. Unacceptable. We moved here clearly not doing enough research so I strongly recommend touring schools in Gwinnett and Forsyth county. Go on their websites and Facebook pages. You’ll see a difference. Look on their calendar of events and see what they have going on for students and families throughout the year. Some Gwinnett schools seem to have the whole child in mind and a better sense of pride for their school and students. Forsyth is way ahead of the game here…they teach about character and care about forming relationships with their students. It’s part of their every day normal. I’m excited for our kiddos to experience that. White Oak is a pretty and clean school it’s just lacking that heart…it starts at the top so this all could possibly change with different administration.
My granddaughter is just finishing her third grade year. Her teacher, Mrs Ginger Dean has been beyond awesome!! She is very organized caring and has been a God send with her compassion for her students. Our experience last year was devastating to my granddaughters confidence. She hated going to school ,, she was behind in reading and many other necessary skills for third grade Mrs Dean worked with my daughter and granddaughter to help her get up to the necessary level. And my granddaughter loves her so much.and has worked so hard. I am so very proud of her. And appreciate Mrs Deans constant encouragement!! She has my granddaughter loving school again And she has perfect attendance!! Last year. Every morning she had a different reason to stay home fm school!! What a difference a caring teacher…that communicates with the student and parent Can truly make in a child’s school year. I can’t thank her enough!! Children just need to know u care. And parents just need to be aware of any problems. So they won’t become major roadblocks. Thank you Mrs Dean!! I feel confident that we are ready for fourth grade!! ??????
I really loved this school wishing i could go back but sadly im entering 7th grade my favourite teacher was Mrs.Dean in 3rd grade she just generally cared for each and every student
