Really frustrating school. With about 2000 students overall you may think that while it is small it’ll just be like any college but smaller. Not the case here. Lots of the students here are commuters which makes the school a ghost town after 4. I’ve found it to be like a community college that you cant leave if you’re a resident. If you use a computer alot and require a decent network connection you’re out of luck. At the beginning of the year my internet speed (WITH ETHERNET) was about 60 mbps. If you switch over to wifi you will get about the same. Pretty quick my connection got to be pretty much constantly lower than 10 mbps no matter what. You think that you could just go the the technology department and they could fix it but no. They have one guy in charge of the internet whom I have tried to have a meeting with and he was never there. All I got was the response that he “might be here tomorrow”. ???? Isnt it his job to be there every day of the week? Just a really frustrating place.
Attended for one year. Way too many commuter students makes living on campus depressing. Was crammed w 2 other dudes in a room meant for 2 total, and even as space in rooms opened up around us we were never moved into a better living situation. Dorm bathrooms are foul. Kinda miss the CI just for the volume of food I could eat, but the food is definitely not good there and it took my stomach a few weeks to adjust. No ac in the dorms makes September a struggle. The area is sleepy. If you have a car you can check out some cool stuff nearby but Whittier itself is nothing crazy. There are swastikas on the bottom of some of the streetlights tho so thats something to look out for. The academics were pretty good and I enjoyed my classes, however living on campus and the overall experience of attending were horrible.
