The directors owe our family money.
I wish I had read all of the reviews not just the last 2 or 3 years. The older posts are very accurate to my experiences as well. The reason for me not allowing my children to attend Wider Horizons is based upon the finding of a book in his classroom that i had been told would not be there and the access to this literature was misrepresented to me when i contacted your school months prior to our move to Florida. I had expressed that i had unerolled my child for that exact teaching at another montessori and was told it would certainly not be at Wider. Upon finding the book on the day before school Mr Maggio concurred it is a damaging book for anyone to read. I was told that they do not know what books are in the shelves because they are donated. How then when I contacted the school prior would it be possible for them to tell me this book was not at this school. Also moreover how concerning for the secretary to know children have read it there. Due to this I do not feel as though I can trust this school based on what they tell me. For this reason I wanted to talk directly with the teachers in my son’s classroom to find out what access he would have to the reading material. unfortunately the “meet and greet” was apparently only 1 hour and I was told i would have to leave even though the teachers in my sons classroom were taken up by talking to parents who did not even have a child enrolled there. I expect a full refund of the money I have paid.
The school and its personnel,Teachers,Dr and Mrs Maglio and the “tireless” Ms. James are the best people to provide a comprehensive education and daily care for my 9 year old. They have taught him many things this year and I will always be grateful. They have helped me through a very unpleasant personal situation and made sure my 9 year old’s education and daily experience(s) are priority number1. My child has more self awareness, his socialization is at an all time high and he walks with a “beaming” stride of confidence that he can handle anything…..I want to send a message to his 3 classroom teachers in this “Teacher Appreciation Week” that you are the best and we appreciate everything you do…Mrs. Gutierrez,Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Bianco please continue “pushing” students to their full potential academically….You truly are fine examples of the teaching profession….THANK YOU!
TO anyone thinking about doing something SPECIAL for their children,IT is IMPERATIVE to set an appointment to VISIT with Dr. and Mrs. Maglio today….Its the best gift to give your sons and daughters…
I love the idea of the Montessori education. My experience at this facility does not allow me to post whether or not I think this school is good. We met with both Dr. Maglio and Mrs. Maglio (she is very nice). After a meeting with lots of questions, discussions, and getting personal references from parents whose children were attending this school, we decided to enroll our child in April of 2016. When I called Ms. James with some questions I had about the application, I was told that the Maglio’s were discussing “us” (my husband and I) and they felt “WE” parents were not a good fit for their school. I was appalled!!! (The Maglio’s never called me back to discuss why they thought we were not a good fit) No concern for our child being disappointed about not attending. It appears Dr. Maglio wants the parents check and child and doesn’t welcome open questions or concerns parents may have. Good luck with your experience at this school! I would not recommend this school to anyone.
