Very horrible school!! DOT NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL!
My son started from kindergarten in 2009,he loved this school before, but everything changed after new principal—Mario Thompson came to woodlake at august 2015.
Principal Mario Thompson physical abused and mental abused my son on April 07,2016, from 10:15 AM to 11:00 and 12:40 pm to 2:00 Pm.
My son was bulled by student D who hit my son’s head, grabbed his arm and kicked his private area. They were sent to principal office.Principal did not check my son for injuries although my son told him it hurts on the head and groin over 12 times ,head was broken and bleeding . Principal ignored and did not report to patents. Principal called me at 1:28 pm talked about 10 minutes, but never mentioned that my son was injured.
During in principal’s office,he closed the door from beginning to the end.
Not allowed my son go to bathroom and access to water for 2 hours. My son asked twice.Principal rejected twice and said:”No,you just had lunch, you had time to go to bathroom at that time.I think you’re just trying to escape!”
“I will kicked you out from student council if you continue lying! ”
when my son had very severe hiccups, running nose all the time, principal still ignored and yelling to him.
2:00 Pm, when my son was leaving the principal told him to wash his face, so the blood was washed away.My son did’t know he had blood, he just felt an cold feeling on his forehead. When I picked him up 2:35 PM,I didn’t notice my son’s injuries immediately.
We already reported to school police and LAUSD

BEST SCHOOL EVER! I have 2 children attending Woodlake Elementary and our family couldn’t be happier with our community school. We absolutely love Mr. Thompson and have had the best experience with the teachers at Woodlake. I am a full time working mom and I can always count on the staff and the parents of Woodlake if I need any help with my children. It is safe and happy place for everyone. I have 1/2 day Fridays at work so I am able to pick up my children every Friday and I have seen first hand how fun the school is and how much the children enjoy it. I especially like that the YMCA is located on school grounds and I don’t have to worry about my children being transported.
My child has been going to this school for three years. The parents here seem very involved and interested. They care and it makes for a good community feel with an inviting atmosphere.

The principal, Mr. Thompson, does a great job promoting that by consistent interaction with parents. He makes you feel welcome to give your input. I’ve only heard positive things about him from other parents.

Academically, the school is moving towards using more technology. They offer several good on-line educational programs which helps with differentiation. Miss. Fink, the second grade teacher is phenomenal. Overall, good school.
