I Attended YES College prep. Years ago and I was miserable, the 12 hour days, the self righteous management, now I will say there where a few teachers I loved, but that’s anywhere. Their education methods where stressful but not superior, and Ivy leages where not fighting for alumni. YES college prep has the advantage of selecting students that are inherently motivated and intelligent thus, having that Advantage would favor them when it comes time to send talent off to college. If anything they are using the students that are predisposed to be successful, and getting government subsidising for it. I’d say now at 24 I’m really successful however I left the school early for the reasons listed above. Classmates I’m in touch with are at basic Houston university’s. I found many of the teachers to be emotionally abusive and some to be manipulative, maybe they meant well… in fact I’m sure they did but at the end of the day, If you have the money to just send your child to private school please do so… I understand that this school can do great things for SOME underprivileged youth but a self motivated person won’t need it and they may be called the wizards but no one can motivate the unmotivated, being intelligent alone won’t cut it in this economy and this is not a correctional school nor can they do magic.
Your child should go here yes the work load is a lot but it’s worth it plus your child could go there up until high school the homework and goodgrades are worth it im in the 5th grade and im going there next year send them there my sister go there and she absolutely love it
I live this school I feel the teachers are very friendly and people have been at southeast for so long. My aunt Ms.Rangel has been here for so long forst she was among the first srudents to aply and graduate. She loved this school so much she came back to teach.
