No matter how many times you take down an honest review, I will continue to put this back up. This school has received impeccable ratings solely because of its (truly) advanced curriculum and uniqueness. However, as a former student (now high school graduate from CTHS), I feel obligated to communicate to parents and students about my experience at this school. Mia Hall was the head of the staff when I attended school, and was very discriminatory about LGBT students. This caused severe emotional damage to me personally, along with not only my friends, but fellow alumni. Ms. Hall was under investigations for claims like these. Mr. Florence was a very hateful teacher that liked to bully students for their looks. I was so excited to be accepted into a school with so much “Diversity and opportunities”. In the end I stayed for 3 years and I regret sacrificing my emotional well being for this school’s ridiculously high standard for academics and behavior. Parents, I understand the desire to put your children in this school, as is your choice. Students, remember that your character card does NOT define you, you will continue to shine even if youre not a “YWLA gem”. Do not let their expectations dull your shine, you are important. I hope this review can shed some light as to what the talented students that attend this school must endure.
This school is hell
The teachers tell you they’ll support you but then they’ll make you feel stupid when ever you make a mistake
The administration doesn’t care about people’s opinions and they’ll just ignore the parents and students complaints
Some teachers make fun of how you look and your ethnicity
So far I’ve only had one supportive teacher who cares about how I feel
Some teachers don’t accept any LGBTQ students
So if you have the opportunity to escape this school LEAVE!
The teachers make u feel so stupid like you dont know anything Mr.Flores is the worst teacher he makes u feel so dumb in so many different ways. He does not teach you at all dont go to this school its the worst something good is that they had good counselors and for me there was just 3 nice teachers other than that the rest sucked
